“NATURE AND CULTURE” CATERED CRUISES ON LAKE BERRYESSA
SCHEDULE FOR 2008

Quail Ridge Wilderness Conservancy is hosting a series of unique cruises on Lake Berryessa during spring, summer and fall of 2008. On these cruises we sail the lake in a comfortable, 24-foot watercruiser that embarks from Steele Park Resort on the southwest side of Lake Berryessa (see schedule below). The boat will dock briefly at the foot of beautiful Quail Ridge Reserve, and those wishing to do so may take a short hike on the Reserve's southern tip.

On this absorbing and memorable boat trip you will learn first-hand about the delicate balance of California's indigenous plants and animals as you view outstanding lakeside scenery from the boat. You will also learn about the human populations residing in this region in the past: the Native Americans, the Berryessa land-grant family of the 19th c., the residents of Monticello (the town submerged by the building of the dam in the 1950s); and about the changes that successive cultures have brought to the Valley.

The cruises launch in the mid afternoon or early evening, depending on season, and include a buffet supper on board the boat. For all cruises, the Conservancy offers selected wines and non-alcoholic beverages.

For the spring and late fall cruises, be sure to dress warmly and to bring rain gear. For the summer cruises, you should also bring a sweater, jacket and/or blanket for the later evening hours, when lake breezes may come up.
