QRWC offers many opportunities for the public to experience the beauty and
peacefulness of Quail Ridge Reserve.
Monthly Interpretive Walks These walks generally take place on the first Saturday of each month, from about
1 to 7, 8 or 9 p.m.
(depending on daylight of the season). They are free and open to the public, though
memberships and donations are gratefully accepted. The schedule for the coming months is as follows: 5 JANUARY (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE. A winter walk in who-knows-what-kind-of weather? Be prepared for rain, though the skies may be clear and balmy. This walk includes a talk about the human history of the Berryessa area at the Visitor Center Museum. 9 FEBRUARY (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE. Precocious spring flowers should be in evidence. This walk includes a talk about human history of the area. 8 MARCH (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE. The Reserve is beautifully green and lush during this month, and bedecked with many beautiful wildflowers. This walk includes a talk about human history of the area. 19 APRIL (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE. Wildflowers will be at or near their best. This is a wonderful way to celebrate the month in which the world observes Earth Day. We have Earth Flags available (2’ X 3’ or 3' X 5') for a donation to QRWC.
3 MAY (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE.. Early May is delightful on the Reserve, with spring flowers and burgeoning growth of other native plants visible all around. The walk includes a talk about human history of the area. 14 JUNE (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE. Early summer at the Reserve will please the senses with green perennial bunchgrasses, a few lingering spring flowers, and fragrant late afternoon zephyrs. 12 JULY (Saturday) & 16 AUGUST (Saturday). GUIDED WALKS ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE. The Reserve in July and August shows off dry upland forest habitat at its finest--a mosaic of native grasses, oak woodland, and chaparral, all harboring thriving species, adapted to limited water. 13 SEPTEMBER (Saturday) & 28 OCTOBER (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE. The Reserve's bunchgrasses in October still look green, even after a long drought season; the other plants patiently await winter rains. 15 NOVEMBER (Saturday) & 13 DECEMBER (Saturday). GUIDED WALKS ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE. Some autumnal flowers will still be in evidence on the Reserve in November, and native bunchgrasses will show off their greenery in both November and December. The air in both months will be moist and fragrant and the weather still comfortably mild.
